I endorse Dave Rusterholtz for Teller County Commissioners for many reasons. We have become close friends since I moved to Teller County in 2018 and we have attended the same Church (Impact Church) as well. David and I have engaged in many discussions about local government and policy, as well as how our faith informs all that we do in our personal, professional or business worlds. In my 40+ years of practicing law, I have had to engage in local government, primarily from the land use planning point of view and the integration of long term water resource allocation with land use planning.
I find Dave's approach refreshing because his faith does truly inform his thinking and the decisions he would make, but also because his focus is not imposing the government regulars upon people, but rather the importance of individual rights and for the people... and therefore government is limited in nature primarily by state and federal constitutions. Dave listens, thinks, and makes very good decisions. Has has a great mind and applies his experience and wisdom with a sound and Godly sense of justice championing individual rights, while respecting the law and the appropriate role of government. He would make an excellent commissioners and champion of individual rights and a vigilant defender of the personal freedoms we have come to enjoy, but which are threatened in many ways.
